Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi

Released in Japan as Dragon Ball Z: Sparking!
is a series of fighting games based on anime and manga Dragon Ball by Akira Toriyama. Each installment was developed by Spike for PlayStation 2, while Bandai in Japan and Atari published them in all other countries from 2005 to 2007. The second and third installments were also released for Nintendo Wii.

Playability:
The games are quite different from the Budokai, with which they are often compared. The Tenkaichi use a perspective of the camera "behind the back" of the character, looking at the rival character from the front with a slight inclination to the side to avoid bad perspectives that hinder the enemy's vision. Unlike the Budokai, each form of the characters is treated as a different character, with different characteristics, set of movements and styles, similar to Dragon Ball Z: Supersonic Warriors. For its part, free wandering is similar to Dragon Ball Z: Sagas.
Game modes:
The story mode of the series (called Battle Gate Z, Dragon Adventure and Dragon Story in each game respectively) advances in a similar way to the story told in the manga and anime. Players can select battles from different sagas and proceed through the history of Dragon Ball to Dragon Ball GT and even several Dragon Ball Z movies. Dragon Balls can be acquired throughout history by destroying part of the scenarios in the battlefield.
History:
The game has 80 selectable characters (90 counting transformations) and 13 scenarios to fight. However, this game is the only one in the series that does not allow transformations in battle. The other flaw in the gameplay was the few options we had when developing combos or some other factor that enriched the control system, which was traced to the series, but very limited.
Selectable DBZ characters:
Each character in the series is based on their anime counterpart. His seiyū and voice actors also took part in the development when it was possible to allow for greater fidelity. Each character has attacks and fighting styles based approximately on the original material. For example, Kame Hame Ha de Gokū and Garlic Hō de Vegeta. Some fighters can transform during fights (from Budokai Tenkaichi 2), which commonly makes the character more powerful thanks to a better set of movements and, in some cases, increases life.
